Are you in over your head with debt?
Missing payments?
Let’s develop a strategy. Lenders are understanding and do want to help you make your payments for this simple reason: they get their money. They are prepared to help you in difficult times. Here is the course of action we advise:
Call the lender and explain your situation. Have your account information readily available. Chances are they will transfer you a few times. Be patient.
Write down the date, time, person (and their title) of each person that you speak with -organization is key to this process. Continue working through the lender’s system to remedy the matter. Be persistent. Start a folder. Save any and all correspondence that is forwarded your way from the lender, whether it comes in email or via mail delivery.
Have your budget readily available so you can tell them how much you can afford to pay monthly. You would rather have a renegotiated debt on your credit report than a charge-off.
